Director, Producer

Špela Čadež

 

Špela Čadež was born in Slovenia 1977. After graduating in Graphic Design in 2002 she continued her studies at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Germany. Since 2008 Špela Čadež has been working as an independent animation director and producer. Her previous film Boles has been screened worldwide, receiving 50 awards, distinctions and nominations and her current film Nighthawk has been screened in selections at Sundance and Clermont Ferrand festivals.

Tina Smrekar

 

Born 1978 in Ljubljana. Lives and works in Ljubljana. Producer and artist Tina Smrekar has completed her Photography MFA in 2005 at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig after graduating in design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. She has produced several short animated films by Špela Čadež, together with the author, among them Boles, which received  50 awards, distinctions and nominations, as also the latest Nighthawk.

 

Animator

Zarja Menart

 

Zarja likes to make illustrations and enjoys even more to animate them. After graduating in Graphic Design from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Ljubljana, she works as animator, illustrator or art director for short films and as an illustrator for picture books and children’s magazines. Zarja worked on Nighthawk as an illustrator and animator.

Scriptwriter, Actor

Gregor Zorc

 

A performer, an actor and scriptwriter, a graduate of the Ljubljana Academy of Theatre. His theatrical potential has been revealed in numerous experimental theatrical projects and independent performance art as well as in institutional theatres and successful films. His performance range is extraordinary, simultaneously combining many layers of experience: socially reflective and personally narrative, always spiced with bitter humor and a refined sense of timing. He has used this sensibility also in scriptwriting processes for the films Boles and Nighthawk.

 

Puppets, Sets

Žiga Lebar

 

Žiga has a degree in physics and techniques from Ljubljana University in 2002. He has been making puppets already since 1991. He has been working in Ljubljana puppet theatre as a puppet technologist from 2002 to 2005. Since 2005 he works independently and is involved in puppetry and sets making in various projects and institutions (puppet theatres, national theatres, movies, animation movies and workshops). Žiga worked as puppets, sets and props constructor on Boles and constructed our precious multiplane table for Nighthawk.

Animator

Leon Vidmar

 

Leon graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Ljubljana, with animation short (In)tolerance. He collaborated on Boles as puppet animator. Since then he went to continue as assistant animator and in 2016 finished working on his own film Farewell.
